Symptoms

Problem
When running the AppMon Commandline Tool (dtcmd), the following error is reported.

dynaTrace Server is not reachable at the moment

or

The dynaTrace Server is not reachable at this time. Verify if Web Services are enabled via the 'Manage dynaTrace Servers' dialog.
Solution

Resolution
This error can be caused by several conditions. Check the following conditions as possible causes:

  1. The specified hostname is not reachable from the machine where you are running the dTcmd utility.
  2. The firewall prevents access to the target port (8020) on the target system.
  3. The internal AppMon Server Web Services and/or Web Server are disabled. To enable them, edit the AppMon Server Preferences, and select the Services page, then view the Management tab. Be sure to check the 'Enable Web Server' and 'Enable Web Services' checkboxes.
