The dynaTrace Measure Simulator Plugin allows to define a custom series of values which will be used to simulate a real Measure. This allows a dynaTrace user to replay certain scenarios and research the behavior of time aggregations, incident sensitivities etc.

The functional principle of this plugin is rather simple: A series of values has to be configured. For every scheduled execution of the Measure Simulator Monitor Plugin, the next value is used.

The use case of this plugin is primary educational.

dynaTrace Measure Simulator Monitor Plugin 0.8.5

Import the Plugin into the dynaTrace Server. For details how to do this please refer to the Online Documentation on Plugin Management.

After a new instance of the Measure Simulator Monitor Plugin has been added to a System Profile, simulated measures can be created in the 'Measures' tab of the Plugin's configuration. It is possible to have multiple simulated measures at the same time:

The properties of the measure can be configured like real measures (Unit, Thresholds, etc.). The following two settings are required:

Defines if the values should be looped continuously or if they should be used only once. Valid values are 'true' or 'false'.

Specifies the values in comma separated format for the selected simulated measure

The following screenshot shows, how the above described measure looks on a chart. Please note, that the chart's time resolution should be set to match the monitor plugin's scheduled execution interval (Example: 10 seconds).

Please refer to the log file, which contains the full console output of the dynaTrace Measure Simulator Plugin:
